  • Blog Purpose:
    • This is a mere journal
    • Obviously does not come from deep experience and thus I am not trying to teach anyone
    • So the purpose of this blog is for me to take notes & organize my thoughts.
  • Length of Practice: I have been practicing a Paleo diet since Jan 5, 2009.
  • My Constitution:
    • Age:  in my 50’s
    • Build:  natural skinny build — or at least I have returned to it after losing 30 pounds.  So I am not one of the good folks who started this lifestyle for weight reasons but for health preservation reasons.
    • Activity: I have never been a weight lifter and have only begun to do a lifting when I started this.  I mistakenly thought “aerobic” was good and muscle was bad.
  • My Benefits:
    • 3 months into EF I was able to go off my only two medications: 1) A hypertension med  2) GERD med
    • 4 months into EF increase stamina and strength
    • 5 months into EF lost 30 pounds (195->165 at 5ft. 11 in.)
  • Family
    • Married: My wife has also begun a modified version – she includes more dairy and gladly “cheats” occasionally.  She is drawn to some Weston Price material.
    • Kids: We have two children who still eat anything and we allow a great variety of normal American diet but they get alot of Paleo Diets at home.  We want to keep it light for them — this is our trip for now.
    • Pets:  2 dogs and chickens and ducks for eggs and meat
  • Hobbies:
    • Martial arts on and off — back off now
    • Kayaking
    • Juggling
    • Mostly butt sitting on with web stuff
  • Academic Background
    • Physician Assistant (Duke University)
    • MPH – Master of Public Health (Johns Hopkins University)
    • Masters of Education
    • Oriental Medical Practitioner (Japan) — no longer practicing
    • Bachelor Degree:  Biology, Education
  • Gratitude !
    • I am incredibly in debt to Dr. DeVany for his insights and contributions.
    • On my Resources pages I list others who have benefited from studying.
